The full length Sony Ericsson Paris promo video

Back in early April, a set of images of the Sony Ericsson Paris were being leaked. These images were taken as screen captures from the original promo video for the phone, which up till now has remained under wraps. Well now we have the complete video for your enjoyment. Of course, at this point we have already learned most of the details that are shown off in the video, but given the lead up with the previous images, it seemed only fitting to show this as well. In the meantime Sony Ericsson is expected to be officially announcing the Paris on June 17.

Microsoft on track to release Windows 7 multi-touch SDK in October

by Donald Melanson, posted May 29th 2008 at 1:22PM Microsoft may have only offered a glimpse of its promised multi-touch support in Windows 7 at D6 earlier this week, but the company apparently already has some of its longer term plans lined up, with it reportedly on track to release its multi-touch SDK at its Professional Developers’ Conference in October of this year. Details on the SDK are otherwise expectedly light at the moment, however, with Microsoft only going so far as to say that its session at PDC will “highlight the new multi-touch gesture APIs and explain how you can leverage them in your applications.”

Corkboard Mac

Most Macs I’ve seen so far are things of beauty, making this DIY Corkboard Mac look rather out of place with the rest of its brethren no thanks to the way it was constructed. Most of the innards consist of an older PowerBook, all held together by a series of colorful push-pins. Well, this is way too fragile for me to display openly whenever there are kids around, so I think it would be better off enclosed in a transparent glass case and placed in a museum instead. Creepy.

Glovephone Concept

Now the Glovephone concept will probably never take off, since it can be quite a hassle to use if you happen to attend barbecue parties all the time. Imagine taking off your phone just for the sake of tearing into some delicious racks of lamb. While electronics woven into clothing has been around for a while already, that doesn’t mean it will work with a phone sewed onto the palm of your glove. According to the designer, one good thing about this is it will call 911 automatically whenever it detects itself being in a fist fight. Pretty neat, although you won’t have time to talk to the operator on the other end of the line when you’re busy trying to avoid punches.

TDK Has New SSD

TDK aims to make a splash in the SSD market by unveiling a new 1.8″ model which will feature AES encryption function known as DSS HS1. This will definitely put your mind at rest against unauthorized entry and access of your data should you actually lose your notebook, but that doesn’t mean you ought to reduce your vigilance in guarding your possessions when traveling. Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities, this new 1.8″ SSD from TDK features a read and write speed of 100MB/s and 50MB/s, respectively. There is no word on pricing as at press time.

TN120R DIY Tablet PC

Ripple from Korea rolled out its new DIY tablet pc known as the TN120R, although I’m not too sure where the DIY part comes in. Do I have to actually piece it together? After all, it does look as though it comes all ready to function out-of-the-box. The basic configuration consists of :-

  • 12.1″ LCD display at 1,280 x 800 resolution
  • Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz processor
  • 120GB hard drive
  • 1GB RAM
  • DVD Multi Burner

No idea how much this puppy costs though.

Asus Eee Box Sneak Peek

Take a peek at the upcoming Asus Eee Box, a desktop version of the wildly successful Asus Eee PC. This white mini PC will definitely be a firm favorite with folks who are competing with four other family member every morning for the bathroom since everyone shares a cramped apartment. Being diminutive in stature, the Eee Box is tipped to be powered by either Linux or Windows XP, and will feature the following :-

  • e of hard drive options (80GB to 250GB)
  • Draft-N connectivity
  • Four USB 2.0 ports
  • SD/MMC/MS memory card slot

Don’t expect to play Crysis on a machine like this - it is more suitable for casual web surfing and pumping out Word documents. Prices start from $328 upwards.

The Chevy Aveo: Get Real

I remember liking this breakdancing car commercial for the Citroen:

It seems that Chevy noticed it and realized how irritating something like that could actually be:

They finish the commercial with the phrase:

Chevy Aveo: Get Real

The Chevy Aveo is actually a VERY reasonable car. It’s priced just over $10K and it gets 32-34 mpg. All that without being a hybrid. It’s pretty small, but if you’re commuting to work, it’s better than a Smart Car as far as comfort and cargo space are concerned.

Another added plus. The Chevy Aveo NEVER transforms into a breakdancing queen.

Toshiba’s Dynadock USB video docking station gets reviewed

by Darren Murph, posted May 29th 2008 at 6:31AM
It took Toshiba long enough to get its socket-infused Dynadock onto store shelves, and considering the rough reputation held by the vast majority of USB video docking stations out there, you’ve probably been holding back on this well-spec’d unit due to fear alone. If we just rang your bell, you’ll be glad to know the critics over at Trusted Reviews were able to spend some quality time with the device and test out all those features that may or may not work as advertised. Overall, reviewers felt that the Dynadock performed adequately in everything save for “entertainment,” so be sure and give the article a bit of your time to determine whether or not it’ll handle the tasks you have in mind for it.

Freehand Wrist Storage For People With No Pockets

How much pocket space is too much pocket space? I’d say that when you reach the point that you’re filling the pocket of your standard jeans and are fully ready to make the fashionable pounce over to MC Hammer jump pants for that extra storage room.

There’s no need to suffer for fashion. Or have your fashion suffer for you. If you’re just too much of a manly man to grab a messenger bag and throw all of your junk in there, just because of it’s similarity to a purse, then you’re going to need a new method of on-the-go storage. Meet the Freehand.

You wear the Freehand on your wrist like you would a orthopedic brace for carpal tunnel syndrome (interestingly enough, you could wear it to provide an excellent excuse for missing work.) The Freehand provides you an extra pouch for your various junk, including a cellphone or house keys.

While it certainly isn’t the prettiest kid on the block, the $20 Freehand is a great alternative for that certain prideful male specimen who refuses to have the term “bag” uttered anywhere near his flannel button-ups and polyester lounge pants.
