Korean company working to offer new content to Blu-ray players

What if your Blu-ray player could do more than just play Blu-ray discs? Well that is the ambition of one company in Korea that hopes to make the high-def disc players an even greater platform for video content.

The company working on the project is named Dreamer and their software, called Biddle, teaches Blu-ray players new tricks. The Biddle software turns networked Blu-ray players into HD set-top boxes. Just like cable and dish operators, the Blu-ray player could offer interactive programming like Video on Demand but Biddle could offer more content like e-commerce, casual gaming and web portals. The way it works is that Biddle moves content from a centralized server to Blu-ray players loading content and applications like web pages.

Currently the software is being used in Korea by one million users but looks to expand in the U.S. You can be sure that we’ll be hearing more about Biddle once they start rolling out the technology and software in the states.

Aircraft Parts Procurement

In a previos post I talked about the man who built a helicopter from old cars and motorbikes parts.

If you have solid tech knowledge or you have a plane (great gadget to have) you will like today post.

Although a lot of people consider Aircraft Parts hard to find, the situation is different. Finding any part for a plane is a easy job if you have internet access and patience.

For maintenance and repair operations you can find thousands of Fasteners in online shops. The National Stock Number (NSN) and Manufacturing Part number cross reference searches let you quickly find and buy the part you need.

Fasteners are a fundamental part of any vehicle; therefore, they should be incorporated in a design from the beginning to be a fully functional part of a platform. They are available in steel, stainless steel, nylon, silicon bronze, brass & aluminum materials.

Fasteners are available in a range of sizes, drives, head types, point types, finishes & materials.

Cup eliminates the need for a stirring spoon

I’ve never been much of a drinker, so the strongest thing you’ll usually find me drinking ins Mountain Dew. I don’t drink fancy coffees or teas, so I don’t normally have issues with spoons. However, if you’re wanting to eliminate this pesky utensil from your drinking routine, this cup would be the perfect way to do just that.

This unique cup uses a floating mechanism, which is supported by a ceramic ball that rests at the base. When you shake it, the ball and float move about to mix up your drink. When you go to take a sip, you’ll find both objects resting gently out of the way at the bottom of the cup. Unfortunately this only appears to be a concept device.

Nail ‘em power guzzlers with the Cost Controller Power Strip

If you’ve had the feeling that perhaps all’s not well with your monthly electricity bill, then there are two things you have to do. First, smack yourself for not making your home sufficiently energy-efficient. And second, get yourself the Cost Controller Power Strip to individually single out those appliances that are gobbling up electricity.

This power strip with surge protection displays the power consumption of each device (rating 8-1800W) connected to it in terms of kilowatt-hour via a large LCD display. So you can configure the strip to monitor energy consumption by the hour, day, week or month, and then determine the exact nature of the energy bleed. If you are still hungry for more statistics, use the strip to measure the voltage, line frequency, and power factor of the input power. A basic necessity for geeks, this one. Available from ComputerGear for $100.

MSI Titan 700 small in size but performs decently

Slim is in, and so is small. If not, how else can one explain the phenomenal sales of the Asus Eee PC despite lacking the necessary firepower to run all sorts of common desktop applications? Granted, the Windows XP-powered Eee PC 900 will be beefier and can handle more common tasks with ease, but I digress. MSI has not forgotten about the ultra small desktop market, introducing a spanking new energy saving compacy mini-ITX full system known as the Titan 700. It almost works flawlessly out of the factory, but you do need to purchase an operating system before it is able to run. Also, I would advise you having some sort of monitor ready beforehand (CRT or LCD, it is your call but seriously speaking, who still uses the former unless there is really no choice?) if you want to get up and running the moment the MSI Titan 700 arrives at your doorstep.

The Titan 700 sports some pretty interesting components within, with a VIA CN700 processor running the proceedings on a 8237R+ chipset. In addition, you will also be furnished with a slim DVD burner and a 2.5″ SATA hard disk drive that remains cool and quiet in comparison with a regular drive. It measures a mere 3.1 liter in size, which is really, really tiny, allowing you to place it just about anywhere on your desk (or under it, for that matte) or in your office/home as you like. After all, being black in color makes it easier to blend in with its surroundings.

MSI will be selling its Titan 700 for £235 a pop, which is an extremely decent price if you aren’t into hardcore gaming or heavy processing. After all, if your computer usage is restricted to merely emails, watching YouTube videos, and catching up on news on your favorite websites, then you can’t really go wrong with the MSI Titan 700.
